Police Colonel Accused of Wife's Murder: Witness Testimony Reveals Disturbing Details

The legal proceedings against Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Rosa Neto, accused of murdering his wife, police officer Gisele Alves Santana, in February, have concluded their evidence-gathering phase. The case, which has been transferred to civilian courts, involves testimony from colleagues and first responders. Sergeant Damiana Alves da Silva, a close friend and colleague of the victim, revealed that Gisele had expressed fears to her about her husband's potential for violence, even asking if she believed he would kill her. Sergeant Silva stated she did believe it, citing the Lieutenant Colonel's behavior. A firefighter, Rodrigo Almeida Rodrigues, who was among the first on the scene, found the position of the firearm in the victim's hand highly suspicious. He noted that the weapon's placement and the lack of recoil impact suggested it was not dropped naturally after a self-inflicted shot. Captain Rafael Aguiar, who responded to the incident, also found the Lieutenant Colonel's behavior unusual. He observed that Neto did not exit his vehicle at the hospital to ascertain his wife's condition, even after waiting for an extended period. The investigation, which included testimony from Gisele's 7-year-old daughter who witnessed domestic disputes, concluded that the Lieutenant Colonel murdered his wife. He is currently held in preventive detention at the Romão Gomes Military Prison. His interrogation is scheduled for August 28th, after which a judge will decide if he will face a jury trial.
