Police in Santarém and Belterra detain drug suspects and respond to domestic violence cases

Police in the western Pará region of Brazil, specifically in Santarém and Belterra, conducted operations between Friday night, November 25th, and Sunday morning, November 26th, resulting in the apprehension of individuals suspected of drug trafficking and the response to two cases of domestic and family violence against women. During a saturation operation in Santarém's Santo André neighborhood on Friday evening, police encountered individuals attempting to flee. One man, Ronicley Teixeira dos Santos, was found with crack-like substances, cash, and a cell phone, and was observed discarding additional drugs. Another man apprehended at the scene stated he was there to buy drugs from the first suspect. Both were taken to the 16th Civil Police Station. Later, on Sunday morning, during a checkpoint in Santarém's Ipanema neighborhood, police stopped a vehicle and found four packets, three containing cocaine-like substances, inside a woman's bag. She was also taken to the 16th Civil Police Station. In addition to drug-related incidents, police addressed three domestic violence calls. In Belterra, on Friday evening, a 20-year-old woman reported being physically assaulted, threatened, and verbally abused by her ex-partner near a bar. The suspect, showing signs of intoxication, was initially treated at a local hospital before being taken to the Civil Police. In Santarém, early Sunday morning, police responded to a report of a woman being assaulted and threatened by her partner, who was allegedly intoxicated. The suspect reportedly resisted arrest and required the use of handcuffs and coercive transport to the Specialized Women's Service Police Station. The victim requested a protective measure. All cases have been forwarded to the Civil Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
