Police Sergeant Arrested After Carrying Wife's Body to Car Before Hospital Visit

Security footage captured a police sergeant, Eduardo Abner Pereira de Oliveira, carrying the body of his wife, Captain Michele Leão Azevedo, to their car before taking her to Odilon Behrens Hospital in Belo Horizonte. The military police officer was arrested on Monday, November 20th, and is under investigation for his alleged involvement in her death. The video shows him exiting an elevator with her on his shoulders, then placing her in the vehicle and driving away with the passenger door open.

Upon arrival at the hospital around 9:35 PM, medical staff identified severe head trauma, leg injuries, bruises, whip-like marks, and a large cut on her forehead. Doctors estimated her death occurred four to six hours prior to her arrival. Sergeant Pereira de Oliveira claimed that he and his wife had consumed alcohol and ecstasy pills at a gathering, and later engaged in consensual sexual activity involving domination and physical aggression. He also stated that Captain Azevedo fell down the stairs earlier that day, sustaining injuries, but refused medical attention. He asserts he found her unresponsive later that evening and decided to take her to the hospital.

During the hospital visit, the sergeant was observed discarding a metal box containing pills resembling ecstasy, which were seized for forensic analysis. The captain's mother described their relationship as abusive and psychologically controlling, noting her daughter's repeated attempts to end it. Investigators also found a broken wooden handle in the building's trash, potentially used as a weapon, and wet bedding in the washing machine at the couple's apartment. The sergeant's phone, the seized pills, and the vehicle are undergoing analysis as the Civil Police continue their investigation.
