Retired Navy Officer Accused of Assaulting Disabled Son, Previously Reported to Navy

A retired Navy sub-officer, identified as Antonio Luis Alves de Sena, was filmed assaulting his disabled son with punches inside a condominium in João Pessoa, Paraíba, on Wednesday, June 29th. The incident was captured by the condominium's security cameras. The condominium had previously filed a complaint against Sena with the Navy, citing "inadequate behavior, with risk to collective security (carrying a firearm)." The complaint included a dossier with documents and records of Sena's behavior, noting concerns about him arriving home late at night, appearing to consume alcohol, and potentially carrying a firearm. A public record cited in the complaint indicates Sena has a diagnosis of "generalized anxiety disorder in severe level, feeling of persecution and difficulty in adjusting and reacting to stressors." The dossier also mentions an incident on June 6, 2026, where the man allegedly had a "psychological episode" that led to the Paraíba Military Police being called to the condominium. Following the circulation of the assault video, Sena presented himself at the Civil Police station in João Pessoa. He stated, through legal counsel, that he would not give interviews and was "shaken by the repercussions of the events." The Civil Police have registered a police report and initiated an investigation into the assault, noting that Sena had reportedly caused disturbances at the building previously, including alleged threats and intimidation, and was known to carry a weapon.
