Singer Jéssica Costa Dies in Car Crash En Route to Show

Singer Jéssica Costa and another man died on Saturday, November 11th, following a two-car collision in Timon, Maranhão. Costa was traveling to a performance in Timon when the vehicle she occupied was struck by a pickup truck. Earlier that same evening, she had performed at a restaurant in Teresina. Originally from Maranhão, Costa resided in the Santa Maria da Codipi area of Teresina. In addition to her singing career, she worked selling nuts at the Shopping da Cidade for approximately eight years. Two years prior, she began pursuing music professionally, balancing shows with her retail job, a demanding routine she managed successfully. Her ex-husband and band producer, Weldyvan Valerio de Santana, described her as a hardworking individual who never relied on others. Costa is survived by four children, including a three-year-old daughter with Santana. Her wake and burial took place in the Santa Maria region. According to Santana, Costa was in the passenger seat when a pickup truck, reportedly speeding with its headlights off, hit their car's side. The truck driver allegedly fled the scene without providing aid. Bystanders extricated Costa from the wreckage, and she was taken alive to the Hospital de Urgência de Teresina (HUT), where she was intubated but ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The second deceased individual was not part of the band but was traveling with the crew to handle sound equipment rental.
