Suniel Anand, Son of Bollywood Legend Dev Anand, Dies at 70

Suniel Anand, the only son of legendary Bollywood actor and filmmaker Dev Anand, has passed away at the age of 70. He died of a heart attack in London on Sunday, with his death confirmed by his family in a statement on Tuesday. His niece, Gina Narang, shared the news with deep sorrow and requested privacy for the family during this difficult time.

Anand was reportedly taken to a London hospital after suffering a heart attack, where he later died. Notably, his father, Dev Anand, also passed away in the same London hospital in 2011. Suniel Anand, born on June 30, 1956, in Zurich, Switzerland, was the sole child of Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik. After completing his business administration studies in the United States, he followed in his father's footsteps into the film industry.

He began his career assisting his father before making his acting debut in the 1984 film 'Anand Aur Anand,' directed by Dev Anand. Although the film did not achieve expected success, Suniel Anand went on to act in other movies like 'Car Thief' and 'Main Tere Liye,' but did not gain the same popularity as his father. He also ventured into directing with the 2001 film 'Master.' Following his departure from the spotlight due to a lack of desired success in acting and directing, he took over the family production company, Navketan Films, after his father's death. He managed the company's operations and worked to preserve his father's cinematic legacy. His death has cast a shadow of grief over the Anand family and the Bollywood industry, with many stars sharing tributes online.
