Suspect Arrested in Recife for Fatal Shooting of 22-Year-Old Woman in Mossoró

A 21-year-old man, suspected of fatally shooting his 22-year-old girlfriend, Anny Kerollayne Rodrigues de Morais, in Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte, on July 5th, has been apprehended in Recife, Pernambuco. The Civil Police reported that the suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was in a romantic relationship with the victim. According to authorities, the couple had a brief argument, after which the man allegedly fired a shot, striking the victim in the neck and causing her death at the scene. The suspect is being investigated for femicide, and the police have gathered evidence supporting his alleged authorship of the crime. A pre-trial detention order was issued by the judiciary and executed with assistance from the Pernambuco Civil Police. The suspect has been transferred to the prison system and awaits judicial proceedings. The incident occurred on Gilcimara Raquel Street in the Abolição IV neighborhood. Anny was reportedly with a friend outside the friend's residence when she was shot once in the left side of her neck, with the projectile also hitting the chair she was leaning against. She died before any medical assistance could arrive.
