Teenager Kills Father in Paraná After Alleged Domestic Abuse Incident

In Umuarama, Paraná, a 14-year-old girl fatally stabbed her father during a confrontation on Monday, May 13th. According to the Civil Police, the incident occurred after the teenager attempted to defend her mother during a domestic dispute between her parents. The father allegedly struck the daughter in the mouth when she intervened. Following this, a second argument erupted between the father and daughter, during which she used a knife, inflicting a single stab wound to his back that proved fatal. The victim was transported to the hospital by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) but succumbed to his injuries. The teenager and her mother were taken to the police station, where the girl provided a statement and was subsequently released. She will face charges for an act analogous to assault resulting in death. Police delegate Izaias Lima stated that the initial argument between the parents was reportedly motivated by jealousy, leading the father to damage his wife's phone and push her, causing a neck injury. The mother reported that she had stepped outside to dispose of trash and did not witness the stabbing itself. However, she indicated a history of domestic violence from her husband, though she had not previously filed formal complaints. The delegate also noted that the teenager had previously witnessed domestic violence incidents involving her father and mother. A police officer passing by the scene reportedly rendered initial aid after seeing the girl running.
