Three-Car Collision Injures Four, One Critically, in Rio das Pedras

A serious traffic accident involving three vehicles occurred on Thursday morning, May 9th, on the Valério Pedro da Silveira Martins highway in Rio das Pedras, São Paulo state. The collision resulted in one driver being critically injured and three others sustaining less severe injuries. The incident began when a Toyota Corolla and a Fiat Palio collided head-on. Subsequently, a Volkswagen Saveiro struck the two stationary vehicles. The driver of the Fiat Palio, who was alone in the car, required intubation at the scene and was transported in critical condition to the Santa Casa de Piracicaba hospital. The Toyota Corolla carried three occupants; one was taken to the Rio das Pedras hospital, while the other two, with minor injuries, were treated at the Hospital Fornecedores de Cana (HFC). The two occupants of the Saveiro also suffered minor injuries and were cleared of serious harm after medical evaluation. The accident caused a temporary closure of the highway, which connects Rio das Pedras to the Cornélio Pires highway (SP-147) in Piracicaba. The Municipal Guard reported that the road was reopened after emergency services concluded their operations.
