Three family members, including two sisters, die in head-on collision in Guarapari

A tragic head-on collision on the Rodovia do Sol in Guarapari, Espírito Santo, on Sunday afternoon, May 5th, resulted in the deaths of three family members. Two sisters, Lorena Santos da Silva, 43, and Regina Santos, along with their brother-in-law, Arlindo, were killed in the crash. Lorena Santos da Silva was an aide to the mayor of Guarapari, Rodrigo Borges, who expressed his deep sorrow and declared three days of official mourning for the municipality. The sisters were reportedly trapped and burned inside their white vehicle, while Arlindo was critically injured and later died at a hospital in Vitória. Three individuals from the other vehicle involved, including a child, sustained minor injuries and were taken to a Guarapari hospital. The accident occurred around 4 PM near the Centro de Detenção Provisória (CDP) in Meaípe, causing a three-hour closure of the highway in both directions for investigation and vehicle removal. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Corpo de Bombeiros, Polícia Rodoviária Federal, and Polícia Científica. The wake for the two sisters is scheduled for Monday morning, May 6th, at the Complexo Esportivo Maurice Santos.
