Timon: Father arrested for alleged attempted murder of student outside school

Authorities in Timon, Maranhão, have arrested a 42-year-old man, identified as the father of a student at a state school, in connection with an attempted homicide. The incident occurred on June 16th outside the Centro Educa Mais Jacira de Oliveira e Silva in the São Benedito neighborhood. The victim, a 15-year-old student at the school, was shot twice in the legs. Investigations suggest the attack was carried out by a couple on a motorcycle, with the victim being struck by three bullets. Police identified the suspects as the parents of another student, allegedly motivated by a report from their son that he had been threatened by the victim, possibly with involvement from a rival criminal faction. During a search of the couple's residence, authorities seized clothing believed to have been worn by the shooter, a motorcycle used in the crime, a .38 caliber revolver, and 15 rounds of ammunition. These items will undergo forensic examination to corroborate evidence. The arrested man has a prior record for illegal firearm possession. Both he and his partner could face charges of attempted homicide upon the investigation's conclusion. Preliminary information indicates the motive may stem from a dispute over a graffiti incident involving a criminal faction within the school's restroom, with the victim allegedly being blamed for the vandalism by the student who may have orchestrated the attack.
