Twin Brother of Man Accused of Masturbating in Gym Takes Leave Amidst Case Fallout

The twin brother of Pedro Henrique Sales, a 21-year-old physical education student accused of sexual harassment in Feira de Santana, Bahia, has taken leave from his job due to the case's significant public attention. This was confirmed by Detective Lorena Almeida, head of the Special Police Station for Women's Attendance (Deam), who is overseeing the investigation. The twin brother is not under investigation, has cooperated with authorities, and is permitted to return to work once Pedro Henrique is apprehended. Detective Almeida clarified that the brother had not disrespected or confronted the police and was only absent from his job because the widespread publicity made it difficult for him to be exposed at work. She emphasized that the public should not seek out or harass him, as he is not facing criminal charges related to the incident. Pedro Henrique was arrested five days after the alleged crime in Simões Filho, a metropolitan area of Salvador, pursuant to an arrest warrant. He is accused of sexual harassment after allegedly being filmed masturbating while observing a neighbor exercising in a condominium gym on Sunday, February 19th. Upon realizing he was filmed, he fled the scene. Authorities reported that Pedro Henrique resisted arrest, attempted to escape through a wooded area, and threw debris at officers. He exercised his constitutional right to remain silent during his deposition. The Civil Police are also investigating whether any family members aided his escape or concealed his whereabouts, which could lead to charges of aiding and abetting. Residents of the condominium where the incident occurred have voted to expel Pedro Henrique and initiate legal action for his removal. An administrative inquiry has also been opened against him.
