Two arrested in Macapá after motorcycle theft

Two individuals were apprehended by the Rondas Ostensivas Táticas Motorizadas (Rotam) in Macapá on Saturday, August 1st, following the theft of a motorcycle in the city's North Zone. The police successfully recovered the stolen vehicle, the victim's mobile phone, and the weapon used in the commission of the crime. The apprehension occurred after patrol officers received intelligence from the Coordination of Intelligence of the Secretariat of Justice and Public Security regarding a motorcycle robbery on Avenida Sebastião Queiroz de Alcântara, in the Jardim Felicidade neighborhood. According to the report, two armed men had accosted the victim, taken the motorcycle and their phone, and then fled the scene. Based on the provided descriptions, the officers initiated a search in an informal settlement known as Nova Colina, where they encountered two men matching the suspects' characteristics. Upon spotting the police vehicle, the pair attempted to flee in separate directions. One of the apprehended individuals, identified as a minor, confessed to participating in the robbery and was detained. This minor indicated that the stolen motorcycle was concealed in an abandoned house, which the police subsequently located and recovered the vehicle from. Further information from the minor led officers to the residence of the second suspect in the Jardim 1 neighborhood, where he was arrested. The key to the motorcycle was found at his home. The firearm used in the robbery was later recovered, and the case was presented at the police station.
