Two Cars Flip into Churchyard After Driver Loses Control on Steep Street in Vila Velha

Two vehicles overturned and landed with their wheels facing upwards in the courtyard of the Comunidade Católica Nossa Senhora das Graças in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil, on Sunday evening, November 19th. The incident occurred around 7 PM when a Volkswagen Up, driven by a man accompanied by a woman and two children, lost control while descending Jorge Tavares Street, a steep incline in the Garoto neighborhood. The Up collided with a parked Fiat Uno, and the impact propelled both cars into the church's property, causing them to flip. A woman from the Up sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment; the other occupants were reportedly unharmed. The Fiat Uno belonged to a local resident. As of Monday morning, November 20th, both damaged vehicles remained at the scene. The area was cordoned off with police tape, and the church's gate was severely damaged. Residents stated the church was empty at the time of the accident, having only held a morning service earlier that day. Military Police responded to the scene, but had not yet provided details regarding the accident's circumstances or their response by the time of the report.
