Woman, 20, Identified as Victim in Fatal Porsche Crash in Campinas

Lívia Bevilacqua Batista, 20, has been identified as one of two victims who died when a Porsche Cayman crashed into a tree and caught fire in Campinas, São Paulo, on Friday, November 10th. She was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Arthur Rodrigues de Souza, also 20, a medical student and the car's owner, who also perished in the accident. Lívia had recently begun studying International Relations at PUC-Campinas but had paused her enrollment. Her sister, Bianca Bevilacqua, described Lívia as a joyful, loving, and helpful person who was deeply cherished by her family and friends. The family endured days of anguish awaiting identification and the release of Lívia's body from the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), with Bianca and her mother leaving flowers at the crash site. The police are investigating the incident, which occurred on Rodovia Francisco Von Zuben (SP-091), as a case of vehicular manslaughter without intent to kill, stemming from imprudence, negligence, or lack of skill. Lívia's last communication with her sister was a photo sent from inside the car on their way home, indicating they were out for a casual evening. The Secretariat of Public Security stated that victim identification involves technical and legal procedures, including dental exams and biological sample collection, before bodies can be released.
