Woman Arrested in Ceará for Filming Intimate Video with 13-Year-Old

Authorities in Aurora, a municipality in Ceará, Brazil, have arrested a 27-year-old woman, identified as Thays Benício Carneiro, on suspicion of filming an intimate video with a 13-year-old boy. The video, recorded on July 8, allegedly depicts sexual activity between Carneiro and the minor, who was reportedly alone at home at the time. The images subsequently circulated widely on messaging apps and social media, causing outrage among local residents. Carneiro was arrested on July 18. In addition to Carneiro, two other individuals have been indicted for their roles in sharing the video. According to investigations, one of the indicted individuals is Carneiro's ex-partner, to whom she allegedly sent the video to provoke jealousy. This ex-partner then allegedly shared it with a friend, who further disseminated the content. The identities of these two individuals have not been disclosed. The victim's family reported that Carneiro had previously exchanged sexually suggestive messages with the adolescent. They had confronted her about these messages, but she denied any interest in the boy. Two days later, the family learned about the circulation of the intimate video. Brazilian law, specifically the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA), criminalizes both the production and the sharing of explicit content involving minors, with penalties ranging from imprisonment to fines.
