Woman Assaulted After Disposing Dog Feces in Neighbor's Trash in Belo Horizonte Metro Area

A 25-year-old woman was assaulted by her 23-year-old neighbor, a penal police officer, in Sabará, part of the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Region. The incident occurred on Monday, October 13th, around 4:30 PM, with security footage released on Thursday, October 23rd. According to the victim, the altercation began when she discarded her dog's feces into a trash bin located on the aggressor's sidewalk. The victim reported that the neighbor, accompanied by a man, confronted her, took the bag of feces, and threw it at her. The aggressor then allegedly sprayed a substance, believed to be pepper spray, in the victim's face and proceeded to punch her multiple times. The victim underwent a forensic examination and suffered three fractures to her nose, requiring surgery. The Civil Police are investigating the incident as a case of bodily harm. The victim also stated that another woman signaled the aggressor before the attack and that the aggressor later said, "This is so you learn not to put feces in my trash can anymore." A neighbor, Luciana de Oliveira Magalhães, a biomedical aesthetician, defended the victim, describing her as a kind person who always cleans up after her pets. This neighbor also mentioned that other residents avoid walking their dogs past the penal officer's house due to a white powder she allegedly throws, which is harmful to animals. The penal officer, in a statement, claimed that disputes with the victim are frequent and accused her of repeatedly disposing of feces in her and other neighbors' trash bins. The State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security confirmed the officer was off-duty and the spray used was not official equipment. The Sabará City Hall stated there are no specific guidelines regarding the disposal of animal feces in sidewalk trash bins.
