Woman Found Dead at Home, Son Arrested on Suspicion of Femicide in Boa Esperança

A 55-year-old woman, identified as Maria Andréia da Silva França, was discovered deceased inside her residence in the Nova Esperança neighborhood of Boa Esperança, Minas Gerais, on Tuesday night, October 14th. Her 34-year-old son was apprehended by authorities as the primary suspect in her death, with the case being investigated as femicide. Police were initially called to the municipal emergency care unit where the son was reportedly in a state of psychotic episode. Officers accompanied him to his home to ensure he remained there. Upon entering the residence, officers found the victim lying on the floor, covered by a blanket, exhibiting signs of rigor mortis. The victim had visible abrasions on her face, though the exact cause of death is pending further examination by the Civil Police's forensic team. Another daughter of the victim, who has mental and physical disabilities, was also present at the home but was unable to provide details about the incident. The suspect, who had prior encounters with municipal and military police in recent days, has been taken into custody and is cooperating with the investigation. A formal inquiry has been launched by the Specialized Women's Service Police Station (Deam) in Varginha to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding Maria Andréia da Silva França's death. Her funeral and burial were scheduled for Wednesday, October 15th, at 5 PM in the Boa Esperança Municipal Cemetery.
